Reason for expectations: 

It won’t be too much to say that all eyes are on 7aum Arivu right now. The ambitious science fiction thriller is made at about 100 crores and has Suriya in double roles. Posters and publicity have been phenomenal and the teasers have done their job to evoke enough and more curiosity. To top it up, the recent audio release and the availability of songs online have left fans asking for more.

7aum Arivu will see the coming together of Murugadoss and Suriya after their hugely successful Ghajini that inspired the Hindi version with Aamir Khan in the lead. Even though it was rumored that Suriya will be in three roles, it turned out he only is playing two roles. Other than Suriya, two major roles are played by Shruti and the Vietnamese Johnny Tri Nguyen.

Teasers showing Suriya’s different getups have become hugely viral in the internet. He is playing the role of a Siddha and part of the movie is set in China. It’s also widely speculated that the movie is loosely based on Christopher Nolan’s sci-fi hit Inception. If you remember, Murugadoss’s Gajini is heavily influenced by Nolan’s earlier hit Memento.

Produced and distributed by Red Giant Pictures, 7aum Arivu’s release will be grand in a whopping number of theaters across Tamil Nadu. North American rights were sold to Bharat Creations while Kerala rights were bought by Divya Pictures. Sun pictures own the satellite rights.

Genere: Period & Fantasy

Audiences: The movie has developed a mysterious air around it and it’s not only Suriya fans – although the major chunk would be them – but most movie buffs are anticipating the movie’s release. It’s pitted against the Vijay starrer Velayutham, which is a regular commercial entertainer. Suriya has a definite edge over Velayutham but only time will tell who will win in the Diwali race.
